I am sure that we are in for an exciting year! This is your final language course here at HGHS. This course is like no other Spanish course you've taken before. The goals of this course are:

• Communication! This is the main goal of virtually all modern language learners.
• Cultures! Practices, perspectives, and products.
• Connections! with other disciplines and other information you've learned about the world.
• Comparisons! of different languages and cultures.
• Communities! As a member of our classroom community as well as far beyond and long after you've left our Spanish 5 experience.

This year will have been a successful experience if, when you complete Spanish 5, you take a positive attitude and adventurous spirit toward other languages and cultures where ever life takes you!

To meet these goals, classroom practices will center around the following:

• Input:Lots of Reading and Listening to Spanish. We'll read many stories and books (including countless children's books!) and we'll listen to songs, media, and stories in Spanish
• Output:Speaking and Writing in Spanish.

Students must be highly motivated and focused, and demonstrate their willingness on a daily basis to practice, memorize, experiment, guess, and play with Spanish. Every student in Spanish 5 can be a successful Spanish learner!
