Check
back here to see what we’re currently working on in Spanish 5.
EVALUATION/QUIZ
DAY:
We will
have a vocabulary quiz EVERY Day 2
The
vocabulary quizzes are CUMULATIVE.
Each quiz contains a section of the most recent words, as well as a
section containing words from all the previous lists from that
quarter.
Be
prepared. There should be no
surprises, just success.
EXTRA
CREDIT:
Extra
credit is available to every student, every quarter.
The purpose of offering extra credit
opportunities is two-fold:
- To
provide the entire class with a culturally relevant mini-lesson to increase
our awareness and understanding of Latin/Spanish culture.
- To
provide students with an opportunity to earn credit to improve their
quarter average.
(Each project earns the presenter an additional point on the final quarter
average)
Some topics that students may
consider include:
- recipe/food: Research and prepare a food typical of
that country or region. Provide a copy of the recipe, make enough for
the whole class to SAMPLE (a taste is all we need!)
- holidays/festivals
- important
events
- places
- your
own travel experience
Presentations
are usually done in English. They may
include a visual (poster or power point presentation)*.
The
process is simple: Be sure to follow
it so that there is no unhappiness on anyone’s part:
1. Print out the request form (click HERE)
2.
Fill out the form. Give some
detail so we both know what you are planning to present. Remember that the
project is not approved until we determine what you will doing and when you
will be doing it.
All topics are chosen and projects
are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
No more than THREE projects will be
scheduled per WEEK. Plan ahead!
No projects should be
started without prior approval!
3. NO PROJECTS MAY BE DONE IN THE LAST WEEK OF
THE QUARTER! There are NO exceptions!
4.
All projects are INDIVIDUAL projects.
There are NO PAIR/GROUP presentations.
5.
The theme for each quarter’s presentations is:
First Quarter:
MEXICO
Second Quarter:
LATIN AMERICA (Central/South America)
Third Quarter:
SPAIN
Fourth Quarter:
THE CARIBBEAN (Puerto Rico, The Dominican Republic, Cuba)
* Presenters MUST NOT merely read
information off a poster or Power Point slide. Full credit will NOT be given if the
presenter cannot demonstrate an understanding of the topic without resorting
to text-heavy slides!
