Attendance/Absences
Spanish class
is not a correspondence course.
You must
be present in order to learn and to contribute. If you are absent you
will miss required participation, as well as important instruction.
Please read the HGHS policy on absences carefully. If your absence is
legal/excused, you are responsible for bringing in the appropriate
documentation within the school's required time.
If you are
absent the day directly preceding a test/quiz do not expect to be exempt
from the evaluation! We may not have done any additional review, which
means you will not have missed any important instruction. If you are absent the day on which a
test/quiz is given, Plan to take the test/quiz the day you return! If we decide that you will not be making up the evaluation the day you
return, you are responsible for making-up the assignment within TEN CALENDAR
DAYS!
Incurring an "unexcused" absence (known in
some circles as a “cut”)
has serious and long-term consequences.
In addtion to
earning a ZERO for any evaluation
done that day, I also take it very personally that a student would choose to miss Spanish class. You may well be risking more than just a
grade if you choose* to cut class.
Trust
me: Whatever "better offer" you might entertain instead of coming to
class will not be worth it.
Choose* wisely.
Arrive on
time!
Arriving late disrupts the class, the lesson, and results in missed
instruction. (Plus: It's just plain rude.)

* ¡Hola! That's right. The CHOICE is yours. We're talking FREE WILL here, muchachos. CHOOSE those actions
which will result in POSITIVE CONSEQUENCES (such as increased knowledge and an
unblemished reputation). Why go to the DARK SIDE and make choices that will
result in unhappiness and less learning for everyone? Use your energy for positive gain, not
for thinking up hollow excuses for having made poor choices.
